Martin Poliačik is one of the pioneers of academic debating in Slovakia. He has been active in a debate programme, actively developing critical thinking, argument and presentation skills in students and teachers since 1996. In years 2003-2006, he was the executive director at the Slovak Debate Association where he also worked as a recognised coach and arbitrator of academic debates at that time. He used to teach at a Montessori school in Bratislava. Currently, he is a member of the National Council of the Slovak Republic and works in the Committee for Education, Science, Youth and Sport. Martin is also a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. 

At the Summit, along with his colleague Hana Skljarszka, he will run a workshop focused on argument skills.
